Biosketch

Tim Wright served as chair of the pediatric dentistry program. He has published over 200 peer reviewed manuscripts, edited two texts and authored 24 text chapters.  Wright’s research interests include human genetics and craniofacial development and he has had over 25 years of NIH funding. He has chaired the Council for Scientific Affairs for the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is the current President of the American Association for Dental Research.

Research Summary

His research interests involve advancing our understanding of the fundamental molecular mechanisms involved in tooth and craniofacial formation and the use of this information in advancing our diagnostic and clinical treatments of hereditary craniofacial defects. These projects are being completed using a variety of human and animal models including the study of human hereditary conditions and transgenic mice. His recent research involves performing systematic reviews pursuant to developing oral health care guidelines.
