Kevin Cain Appointed Executive Vice Dean of Operations

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry has selected Kevin Cain, PhD, MBA, who was most recently the school’s Associate Dean for Finance and Strategy, as the new Executive Vice Dean of Operations.

“I am extremely humbled to be following in the footsteps of giants like Drs. Ritter, Roberts, Beck, and May,” Cain said. “The fact that we have the best students, staff, and faculty in the world makes me excited for the future we will create for the Adams School of Dentistry.”

Cain earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University’s School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“We are extremely fortunate to be able to fill this critical position quickly and with someone who is already intimately familiar with the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and its operations,” Dean Scott De Rossi said. “Kevin’s existing relationships within the school and across campus will ensure a smooth transition into his new role as executive vice dean for operations.

At this critical time for our school, as we face new challenges in growth and budgeting, Kevin’s stellar credentials and expertise will help shepherd us through our next chapter and ensure we become the global model for oral health education, in care and discovery.”

Before coming to Chapel Hill in 2018, Cain was an assistant professor of management at Augusta University where he taught MBA and undergraduate strategic management and entrepreneurship courses. He also performed research on organization theory, dental, and healthcare topics using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
