UNC School of Dentistry Golf Tournament Raises $3,000 for Scholarships

The 19th UNC School of Dentistry Golf Tournament, held on April 12 at Carolina’s premier Finley Golf Course, raised approximately $3,000 for dental student scholarships.

This year, the tournament, which has recently become an annual event, hosted 68 golfers competing for top prize. Chaired by Dr. Lynn H. Smith of Sanford, NC, the event raised its profits through individual players and also thanks to 10 paid sponsors.

In addition to enjoying playing a round of golf with friends, players compete to win prizes based on team score and also each take a shot at sinking a hole-in-one to take home a $10,000 cash prize. This year, no one won the $10,000 prize, but golfers enjoyed awards and prizes in our raffle drawing and Closest to the Pin contest. Prizes were donated from 18 local businesses and ranged from football tickets to restaurant gift certificates to a basketball signed by the 2012-13 Carolina men’s team.
