Roberson Installed as ICD USA Section President

Dr. Ted Roberson, who served on the UNC School of Dentistry faculty for 37 years, was recently installed as president of the USA Section of the International College of Dentists (ICD).

The ICD is a worldwide fellowship of dentists who have been recognized for outstanding leadership and contributions to the dental profession. The USA Section is the largest of the 14 worldwide sections, with about 6,000 members of the 10,000 in the worldwide total membership. ICD organizations and fellows are in more than 100 countries.

Roberson received his DDS degree from the UNC School of Dentistry; in his nearly four decades as a member of the School’s faculty, he also served as director of student affairs, director of admissions and chairman of the Department of Operative Dentistry. He was the senior editor of “Sturdevant’s Art and Science of Operative Dentistry” and has given presentations throughout the United States and internationally.

His leadership within organized dentistry includes service as president of the Third District Dental Society (N.C.), vice president of the N.C. Dental Society, delegate to the American Dental Association (ADA) House of Delegates, chairman of the ADA Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations, membership in several ADA task forces and chairman of the American Dental Education Association’s operative dentistry section.

Roberson, who retired from his full-time position in 2001, is currently the School’s director of alumni and professional relations and executive director of the UNC Dental Alumni Association.
