
Appointments for Students and Residents
Life can be stressful while pursuing a professional degree, and the UNC Adams School of Dentistry is dedicated to your wellness while you are a student here.
Whether you are enrolled in a dental hygiene, DDS, or ADE program, you are eligible for one-on-one wellness coaching sessions with Kate Thieda, MS, LCMHC, NCC, director of student wellness.
If you would like to schedule an appointment for one-on-one wellness coaching, please click here to select a time that works best for you. Kate’s office is located at 3505 Koury Oral Health Sciences Bldg.
If you do not see an appointment time that fits your needs, please email Kate directly at kthieda@email.unc.edu to discuss your request.
Initial appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments can be either 30 minutes or 45 minutes long to accommodate your schedule and needs. Please only schedule one appointment at a time.

In the event you need to cancel your appointment, please do so with at least 24-hours’ notice so another student has the opportunity to have your time slot.

Common topics students discuss during wellness coaching:
- Mental health concerns (stress, anxiety, depression, burnout)
- Academic concerns
- Family or relationship issues
- Career concerns
- Anything and everything else!
In the event of an emergency after hours or on weekends, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for assistance.
