Local Programs

Give Kids a Smile
This annual event offers no cost dental care for kids and their families to learn more about oral health as a kick off to National Children’s Health Month.

DEAH DAY
An annual day of service honoring the lives of Deah Barakat, DDS ‘17, Yusor Abu-Salha, DDS ‘19, and Razan Abu-Salha, who were killed in 2015.
Statewide Programs

DISC Program
The Dentistry in Service to Community (DISC) Program at UNC Adams School of Dentistry empowers dental learners to serve diverse communities through immersive clinical experiences and impactful public health initiatives.

Student Outreach Clinics
Working at one of the school’s six outreach clinics can help students prepare for the realities of operating and working at a dental practice and lets them experience the impact that social determinants of health may have on current and future patients.

AROWS Program
The Adams Rural Oral Health and Wellness Scholars (AROWS) Program targets dental students interested in a career caring for underserved North Carolinians.
Our students and faculty provide free or reduced cost dental care at the following locations:
- Orange County “Project Homeless Connect”
- North Carolina Dental Society Missions of Mercy (MOM) free dental clinics
- Free and reduced clinics throughout NC
- Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC, Dental SHAC)
- The Student National Dental Association (SNDA) CAARE clinic
