Life as a UNC Dentist

Students at the Adams School of Dentistry are prepared to become nimble practitioners and future leaders of oral health care. They are from diverse backgrounds and have an array of interests, from research, service and advocacy, to music, wellness and diversity.

At Carolina, you’ll explore every aspect of dentistry, assist with ground-breaking research, learn how to care for diverse patient populations, and how to care for yourself too.

Get Involved

Life at the Adams School of Dentistry is one of involvement — involvement in classes, involvement with patients, and involvement with peers through student organizations.

Below is a list of organizations that are active at the school.

Discovery and Innovation

Our faculty, students, residents and visiting scholars, are involved in many projects — from leading research in oral cancer, to the impact of oral health on HIV patients, to incorporating new technologies in dental education and more.

Students may present their research at the School’s annual Research Day, travel to national and international conferences, and work alongside faculty mentors.

Caring for the People of North Carolina

Passionately serving our community is a key value of the Adams School of Dentistry mission. To move this mission forward, the whole school works together to provide care to vulnerable populations.

Staying Well

The Adams School of Dentistry provides students with access to counseling services through the Counseling and Psychological Services Embedded Counseling Program. Chris Crowther, our embedded counselor, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has an office in the school.
