Craniofacial and Surgical Care
Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems.

Orthodontics
The Department of Orthodontics studies the treatment of irregularities of the teeth, jaws, and bite relationship in children and adults.

Biomedical Sciences
The Deparment of Biomedical Sciences encompasses the faculty, research fellows and visiting scholars who generate new knowledge in the basic, applied and clinical sciences, health services, health policy and health education.

Restorative Sciences
The Department of Restorative Sciences studies the replacement of missing teeth, including fixed devices, such as dental crowns or bridges, or removable devices, such as dentures.

Diagnostic Sciences
The Department of Diagnostic Sciences focuses on oral radiology and oral pathology through a combination of basic science and general dentistry, guides the diagnosis of oral diseases and helps develop patient treatment plans.

Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health
This department provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease.

Periodontology, Endodontics and Dental Hygiene
This department focuses on the treatment, maintenance and management of advanced gum disease, root canal therapy and dental traumatic injuries, and overall oral health care.
School Support Units
Academic Affairs closely oversees the various educational programs and supports academic excellence.
The Academic Support Center (ASC) partners with faculty to deliver an exceptional academic experience to learners. ASC aims to support a cohesive, integrated, technology-enhanced curricular experience across programs where education best practices are ubiquitous, and processes are seamless and accessible.
The Dental Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. supports and enriches the school through private contributions.
The office of clinical education oversees the clinical training of predoctoral dental students and supervise the Guided and Advanced Practice phase of the ACT curriculum. The office of clinical education works closely with clinical operations, academic affairs, dental curriculum and predoctoral program directors to ensure the learners are receiving exceptional clinical education and providing person centered care for their patients.
Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care. Services include resolving patient issues, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability.
Continuing Dental Education (CDE) aims to improve the knowledge base and advance the practice of dentistry through quality educational activities. By offering activities that feature current research in science and technology, we help dentists and dental team members advance their knowledge and skills, and promote innovations in the field.
The Dean’s Office provides oversight for the school and serves as the liaison to the University, citizens, alumni and friends.
The Human Resources office recruits, hires and orients new employees. It administers benefits, payroll, leave and provides expertise on employee performance and evaluation.
The IT department supports our school’s technological infrastructure and ensures that students, faculty and staff have access to the digital tools and resources necessary for effective learning and patient care.
Patient Accounts offers a comprehensive overview of billing, claims, and payment services, providing clear communication and support for managing health care expenses. We assist patients with understanding their statements, navigating insurance claims, and exploring payment options for a seamless financial experience.
The primary purpose of Support Services is to serve the needs of Adams School of Dentistry and to guide its operations in meeting the requirements and commitments in teaching, patient care, research and administrative programs.
