The UNC Henson Special Care & Geriatric Clinic provides care in the clinic and operating room settings for medically, physically, or developmentally compromised patients. Our team of dedicated professionals provides clearances for medical interventions such as chemotherapy, radiation, solid-organ transplants, and other surgical interventions.

Student Clinic accepts Delta Dental, Dental Medicaid
All other Dental Insurance Coverages: Our Patient Accounts team offers Courtesy Filing if the claim is paid in full on the same date of service. Any reimbursement from said Courtesy Claims will be sent directly to the mailing address of the Guarantor on file.

If a patient is being treated in the Operating Room under General Anesthesia and is NOT covered by Dental Medicaid, there is a $2,500 Dental OR Deposit Fee. This fee MUST be collected in full before the case is scheduled.
Since we do not know the exact type and extent of services that you may need in the operating room, we are unable to provide you with an estimate of your liability for dental charges. The actual amount of your financial liability may differ from the deposit collected, and the $2,500 deposit collected by UNC Adams School of Dentistry will be credited toward dental procedures only. You will be responsible for any overages. UNC Health will collect medical coverage information so they can file for anesthesia, pre/post care or any other charges affiliated with their service area.
Please remember to bring your parking ticket when you check in. We can only validate your parking if you bring the ticket. See the steps below for parking specifics.
Parking
Park in Dogwood Parking Deck, with entrances located off East Drive and Mason Farm Road. Bring your ticket into the building with you.
Go to the third floor
Take the elevator to Floor 3 to cross into Cardinal Deck
Pedestrian bridge
Follow the signs to the pedestrian bridge. This will lead you directly to the dental school through Tarrson Hall.
Patient entrance
Tarrson Hall is the entrance designated for patients. After entering the double doors, you can proceed to the clinical areas.

Patients with mobility challenges should park in the Ambulatory Care (ACC) lot and take the free shuttles to the school. Riders will need to inform the shuttle their destination is the dental school. The patient or clinic will need to call the shuttle for pick-up at (984) 974-0465 to return them to ACC parking.
