Leandro Passos Soares headshot

Leandro Passos Soares, UNC Operative Dentistry Class of 2025, is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He earned his DDS from Federal Fluminense University, Brazil, in 1999 and a Prosthodontist Certificate from the Brazilian Association of Dentistry in 2003. He received his Master’s in Dental Clinic and Biomaterials from Federal Fluminense University in 2006 and his PhD in Operative Dentistry from the State University of Rio de Janeiro in 2012. He is a Tenured Associate Professor skilled in CAD/CAM technology and a Certified Trainer. He has been a peer reviewer for prominent journals, delivered invited talks internationally, and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He held management roles in academia and was a Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta. In 2023, he received the Ralph Phillips Student Research Award and the Sturdevant Research Award. Leandro enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, and listening to jazz in his free time. He is a third-year resident and is expected to graduate in June 2025.
