Thomas “Jay” Patrick, III

Jay Patrick, Orthodontics Class of 2024, is originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina where he grew up with two sisters, playing soccer whenever he could, and becoming an Eagle Scout.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Following his time as an undergraduate, he attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. While at MUSC, he served as president of several service organizations, a member of the ASDA Executive Council, and one of the founding members of the Orthodontics Interest Group at the school.

After being selected for the Health Professions Scholarship Program, he joined the Air Force in 2016 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Langley Air Force Base. He then completed a four-year assignment at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Jay, along with his wife, Emily, and their new son, Vee, are excited to be back in the States as he joins the UNC orthodontics program. Jay enjoys travel, history, athletics, and is a chess enthusiast in his spare time.
