Bolisetty Named IT Project Manager

In April 2019, Phani Bolisetty, MS, MBA, began as the school’s IT project manager with the Office of Computing and Information Systems at the UNC-CH Adams School of Dentistry. He will report to the Assistant Dean for Information Technology, David Rankin, MS.

Bolisetty will work primarily with implementing Epic and will also engage in project management more broadly in IT at the Adams School of Dentistry.

“One of the first things Phani will help us with is the Epic implementation at the Adams School of Dentistry,” said Rankin. “He will work closely with the Epic project manager to manage the project from our perspective, identify and reduce risks and address gaps.

“In addition to Epic, the school is constantly running multiple IT and non-IT projects. Having an experienced project manager at the school greatly increases success and efficiency. I believe that Phani will bring a project management approach to our IT projects and provide general project management guidance, templates and advice to Adams School of Dentistry units and programs to make all our projects successful.”

Bolisetty has more than 10 years of experience in information technology at large companies like Cisco Systems, Deutsche Bank, MetLife, Nortel Networks and IBM Corporation. He most recently served as the senior IT business analyst at MetLife, where he was responsible for leading a large transformational program to implement a new sales force platform. Bolisetty oversaw business analysis and implementation overnight for the project by working with cross-functional partners including a big data platform, microservices architecture and a cloud-based sales force platform.

I am excited to be part of the Carolina family and have an opportunity to work at the same great institution where I got my education,” said Bolisetty. “I look forward to the opportunity to bring my past experience from different companies and industries to the Adams School of Dentistry and collaborate with peer project managers from the School of Medicine and ITS to implement the best practices to project management.”

Bolisetty received his bachelor’s in technology from J.N.T.U. College of Engineering in India. He earned a Master of Science degree in computer science from UNC-Charlotte and his MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is a Sun Certified Java Programmer, a certified Scrum Programmer and a certified project management professional.
