Albouy Begins Appointment as Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics
Jean-Pierre Albouy, DDS, MS, PhD, has joined the UNC-CH Adams School of Dentistry’s Department of Restorative Sciences Division of Prosthodontics as a full-time assistant professor.

I am sincerely hopeful that the time I will devote to novel research projects in the Department of Restorative Sciences, the education of the students, and the treatment of patients in the Dental Faculty Practice will benefit this welcoming community.”
Albouy’s responsibilities as an assistant professor include teaching prosthodontics, working in the clinics and seeing patients at the Dental Faculty Practice. His research interests comprise biomaterials, digital dentistry, esthetics, tissue interface, inflammation and patient-centered research.
“Dr. Albouy is an excellent addition to the Department of Restorative Sciences. He is a talented clinician and experienced researcher that will enhance the mission of the department and school,” said Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences, Ryan Cook, DDS, MS. “His clinical background gives him the unique ability to translate his research to clinically relevant topics that enhance patient care. He will be an asset to the department at every level.”
Albouy earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the School of Dentistry in Montpellier, France. He completed a master certificate in medical and biological sciences from the Medical School in Montpellier, France, and received his specialty certification in prosthodontics from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. He completed post-graduate studies in fixed prosthodontics at the Dental School at University Paris VII, and received his PhD in periodontology from the Sahlgrenska Akademy in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Prior to joining the Adams School of Dentistry, Albouy practiced prosthodontics in Montpellier for 20 years. He performed all surgical procedures related to periodontology and implantology.
Albouy is an international speaker and a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontics, and the American Dental Club of Paris. He is a member of the peer review committee for Clinical Oral Implant Research, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and the Journal of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research.
