Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Residents Win at National Meeting

Dr. Brittany Kurzweg and Dr. Peter Green, both third-year residents in the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Graduate Program, earned recognition at the 2016 American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) annual meeting.

“We’re so proud of Drs. Kurzweg and Green for their accomplishments,” said Dr. Ceib Phillips, assistant dean for graduate/advanced education. “These awards are prestigious and receiving them is a true honor. It speaks highly of Drs. Kurzweg and Green, and also of our program that UNC residents brought both of these back from AAOMR.”

Kurzweg received the Albert G. Richards Graduate Student Research Grant, which is awarded to a promising graduate student to further their research goals. Kurzweg’s research focuses on CBCT image quality, comparing various aspects of the image volume, and radiation doses. The grant, presented each year at AAOMR, is named for Professor Albert G. Richards, who spent his career educating students on dental radiography.

Also at the AAOMR meeting, Green was presented with the Radiology Centennial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes a student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and potential for continued achievement following graduation.
