Barrett Begins as Assistant Director of Development
Effective August 1, Hunter Barrett began his appointment as assistant director of development in the UNC School of Dentistry’s Office of Advancement.
“I’m thrilled to begin working at the UNC School of Dentistry,” said Barrett. “The school and the Office of Advancement have a stellar reputation, and I hope to add value to that through my work as assistant director of development.”
As assistant director of development, Barrett will lead the annual fund program, coordinating direct mail, web and phonathon campaigns. He will also focus his fundraising on unrestricted funds, which support the school and its departments, student aid and faculty support funds, class gifts, and capital projects. Additionally, Barrett will serve as the executive director of the UNC Dental Alumni Association.
”We are delighted that Hunter is joining the School of Dentistry Office of Advancement,” said Paul Gardner, associate dean for advancement. “He is a true-blue Tar Heel and has done excellent work with students, alumni, and friends at Carolina.”
Barrett is a three-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his Bachelor of Arts in history (2011), a Master of Arts in teaching (2012) and a second Master of Arts in exercise and sports science (2015). Most recently, Barrett has served as the associate director of annual giving in the UNC Central Development Office. In that role, he focused on student giving programs. Prior to that, while earning his master’s degrees, Barrett worked as an athletics development graduate assistant for The Rams Club.
