Quallen Begins as Assistant Director of Advancement
Nicole Quallen recently joined the UNC School of Dentistry’s Office of Advancement staff as the assistant director of development. This position was previously held by Sarah Huppert, who was promoted to regional director of development in late 2013.
“I am so excited to be back on the UNC Chapel Hill campus, and to be working to support the School of Dentistry,” said Quallen. “I believe that Carolina is a uniquely awesome place – a truly public university excelling at research and education, and a happy and healthy place to be. I am already enjoying building relationships with students, faculty, friends, and alumni of the dental school.”
As assistant director of development, Quallen will lead the annual fund program, coordinating direct mail, web and phonathon campaigns. She will also focus her fundraising on unrestricted funds, which support the school and its departments, student aid and faculty support funds, class gifts, and capital projects. Additionally, Quallen will serve as the executive director of the Dental Alumni Association.
“We are delighted to have Nicole join our Office of Advancement,” said Paul Gardner, associate dean for advancement. “Nicole is smart, organized and personable. She has done excellent work with the other organizations she has worked with, and we’re confident she’ll continue to strengthen our annual fund and Dental Alumni Association.”
Quallen is a graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Mass., and earned her J.D. with honors from the UNC School of Law. Prior to joining the UNC School of Dentistry, Quallen worked in events and fundraising positions with REACH: Rewarding Achievement, Inc., Education Reform Now, and All Star Code – all in New York City – and currently serves as a member of the Board of Benevolence Farm in Carrboro, N.C.
