Lee Elected to American Association of Dental Research Publications Committee

At the recent elections of the American Association of Dental Research(AADR), Dr. Jessica Lee was elected to serve on the organization’s publications committee as a member at large. Lee is the Demeritt Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at the UNC School of Dentistry.

As a member-at-large of the AADR publications committee, Lee will review the quality and financial status of the Journal of Dental Research and other journals owned jointly by IADR/AADR. Her membership on this committee will span three years.

“The publication and dissemination of new knowledge are critical in advancing our profession. Maintaining AADR’s high quality publications is essential. It is a privilege to be a member of this committee and I look forward to serving our profession in this capacity,” said Lee.

Lee, who earned her D.D.S. and M.P.H. from Columbia University, joined the school’s faculty in 2002 after completing her pediatric dentistry residency program and Ph.D. in health policy. She is active in both UNC Hospitals and the school’s Dental Faculty Practice. In addition to being published many times herself, she serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Dental ResearchJournal of Public Health Dentistry and Dental Traumatology. Among her many honors, Lee most notably received the 2008 American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Jerome Miller “For the Kids” Award, the 2010 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President Barack Obama, and was named the 2011 APPD Pediatric Dentist of the Year.
