Pimenta Inducted into International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics

Dr. Luiz Pimenta, clinical professor in the Department of Dental Ecology and dental director of the UNC Craniofacial Center, was recently inducted as a member of the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics (IADFE).

IADFE is an honorary service organization designed to encourage interdisciplinary relationships and cooperative education for facial esthetics. Its membership spans the various professions that help esthetic patients be better cared for by caregivers. Membership is reserved for professionals who are notable in their field and across disciplines, and who are committed to excellence in facial esthetics. Nominees for membership must be sponsored by two current members of IADFE.

Dr. Pimenta’s initiation took place at the IADFE Annual Fellowship Induction Meeting in New York City, N.Y. on Monday, November 28. He was one of about 20 initiates. He and his fellow initiates were conferred during a cap and gown ceremony and received the Certificate of Fellowship and designated member pin.

“I was humbled to become a member of IADEF this year,” said Dr. Pimenta. “It is a great honor to be a part of this prestigious group. I’m looking forward to collaborating with my new, interdisciplinary colleagues to continue improving dental-facial esthetic treatment.”
