ADHA President to Speak to Dental Hygiene Students, Faculty
Jean Connor, the president of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), will visit the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry on Thursday (March 20) as a part of her nationwide tour.

She will talk to dental hygiene students and faculty about “The State of Dental Hygiene: Unleashing Your Potential” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in room 3180, Old Dental Building. Following her remarks, those in attendance will be able to ask questions about the ADHA and the field of dental hygiene.
“As faculty members, we work consistently to foster professionalism, ethics and lifelong learning within our students. Ms. Connor’s visit will provide a very valuable perspective on these values and how they make our profession and patient care stronger,” said Charlotte A. Peterson, clinical associate professor of dental hygiene at the School.
Connor has held numerous roles within the ADHA, including five years as a District I trustee, director of the Oral Health Institute, ADHA delegate and student alternate delegate, as well as president-elect and vice president. She also has served as president of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association (MDHA).
Her contributions to dental hygiene – also represented in her participation in a variety of educational, public health and health-care committees – have earned her much recognition. Among her honors are hygienist of the year (awarded by the MDHA, among other organizations who have presented her with this honor) and a governor’s appointment to represent dental hygiene as part of the Special Legislative Commission to Study the Oral Health of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Connor is currently a practitioner in clinical practice in Cambridge, Mass.
