Brauer Patio, Tarrson Entrance Are Now Tobacco-Free

On July 4, 2007, UNC Health Care, the School of Medicine and UNC Campus Health Services went tobacco-free throughout their campus locations.

The UNC Health Care tobacco-free zone also includes highly trafficked areas of the School of Dentistry: the Brauer Hall covered patio and the outside entrance courtyard and pedestrian walkway adjacent to Tarrson Hall. Signs have been posted within these areas to notify faculty, staff, students, patients and visitors of the new tobacco-free designation for these particular areas.

UNC Health Care is offering free smoking cessation classes for employees – including employees of the School of Dentistry – that will focus on strategies for dealing with withdrawal, alternatives for dealing with stress and other issues related to successful smoking cessation.

The next orientation session is noon to 1 p.m. July 26, and classes will take place noon to 1 p.m. Mondays July 30 through Sept. 17, except for Labor Day. The location is in the Women’s Health Information Center, located off the N.C. Women’s Hospital lobby.
