Almond Named to Interim Foundation Leadership Role

Kelly Almond, who has served as executive director of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry’s Dental Alumni Association since 2004, has been named interim executive director of the Dental Foundation of North Carolina.

Her Dental Foundation role will be in addition to her continued responsibilities with the Dental Alumni Association, said Dean John N. Williams. Almond has served the School of Dentistry since July 2001.

“Kelly brings a deep sense of commitment and knowledge to the position,” Williams added. “She has a genuine dedication to the School of Dentistry, to its mission and to the many other people who support that mission. Her colleagues and I look forward to working with her in her expanded role.”

Jim Ervin previously served as executive director of the Dental Foundation; he recently left this role to become executive director of development and external relations for Carolina’s Division of Student Affairs.

“We appreciate Jim’s service to the School and wish him all the best,” Williams said, adding that the School will soon begin the search for a permanent executive director.
