North Carolina Student Hispanic Dental Association Announces Dental Bus Opportunities in Siler City March 2-4, 2006
The Baptist Men’s Dental Bus and Dr. Slott’s Portable Clinic are running a dental health fair to help address the problem of access to care in the Siler City area. During the fair many dental health services will be provided ranging from fluoride applications to extractions. These services are provided to patients at no charge. Siler City is the largest town in Chatham County and is home to many Hispanic families. It has been estimated that there are particular areas of Siler City where the Latino population exceeds 85%.
The North Carolina Student Hispanic Dental Association is participating in this event and is seeking volunteers to aid in this worthy cause. NCSHDA needs volunteers to help with set-up, filling out paperwork, screenings, oral hygiene instructions, product distribution, entertaining kids, operators, hygienists, and dental assistants. We welcome all volunteers and are especially appreciative of any volunteers with Spanish proficiency.
Dental students who are currently in their 2-4th year of school are eligible to volunteer as operators. Other students are welcome to serve in one of the many other areas of the dental health fair.
Current licensed dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants are welcomed.
