Donnie Hull Receives the Dr. Henry Zaytoun Award

Donnie Hull, who graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry in May, is the 2003 recipient of the Dr. Henry Zaytoun Award. Dr. Zaytoun established the award through the Dental Foundation of North Carolina in 2001 to recognize the graduating dental student who has demonstrated superior professional and ethical demeanor during the cumulative clinical training obtained at the UNC School of Dentistry.

During his four years at the School, Hull was a coordinator in the Student Health Action Clinic (SHAC) in Carrboro, and volunteered at the Fiesta Del Pueblo. He and his wife, Mari, provided preventive and basic oral health care services to disadvantaged children and adults at an orphanage outside of Tegucigalpa, Honduras in summer 2002.

Dr. Zaytoun, who earned his MS from the Department of Orthodontics in 1959, practices orthodontics in Raleigh with his daughter Dr. Mary Paula Zaytoun Steele (DDS 1978) and son Dr. Henry Zaytoun Jr. (DDS 1984, MS 1987).
