Class of ’54 loses beloved classmate, Donald Draughon

Donald Ray Draughon, Sr., 74, of Wilshire Drive, died December 17, 2002. He was born in Durham, the son of the late Wells Robert Draughon and Vena Estelle Watson Draughon. Draughon was a life long resident of Durham graduating from Durham High School in 1946. He was captain of the school band. He graduated from Duke University in 1950 and was a graduate of the first dental school class at UNC in 1954. He entered the US Air Force in Orlando, FL returning to Durham to begin his private practice. He was a dentist for 45 years, retiring a year and a half ago.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Patricia Dowdy Draughon; one daughter, Donna Draughon Doll and three sons, Donald Ray Draughon, Jr. and K. Robert Draughon.
