Three Students Receive Hinman Scholarships

Three UNC School of Dentistry students recently received scholarships from the Thomas P. Hinman Society at its annual meeting. DDS students Michael Holbert (2003) and Annelise Eichel (2004), and dental hygiene student Amy Childs (2002) were honored at the 90th Annual Hinman meeting in Atlanta. Childs received $750 and Holbert and Eichel each received $2,000. In addition to receiving scholarship money, Hinman scholars receive airfare, lodging, and admission to the Hinman meeting and are honored at a luncheon. The awards are based on academic performance and need.

The Hinman Society has promoted continuing education in the dental profession since its founding in 1912. It began granting scholarships to dental students in 1986 and added hygiene students in 1989.
